Harry Krueger Leaves Housemarque After 14 Years: Sony Studio’s Future Unclear

After a 14-year tenure at Housemarque, Harry Krueger is stepping down as the studio’s director. Krueger expressed his gratitude for his time at Housemarque, stating that each project was a dream come true. His contributions greatly influenced the growth of the studio, moving from arcade games to ambitious titles such as Returnal, which marked a turning point for Housemarque.

Krueger described his departure as a challenging decision but expressed excitement about the future of both the new projects and the strong team remaining at Housemarque. He expressed confidence in the bright future of the Finnish studio, supported by Sony’s continued support in 2021.

Ilari Kuittinen, co-founder and CEO of Housemarque, highlighted Krueger’s significant impact on the development of the studio. Under his leadership, Housemarque surpassed several milestones, including the resurgence of arcade games with Returnal’s success. Kuittinen sees this moment as an opportunity for new leadership to take over and build upon the foundation established by Krueger.

Housemarque is now preparing to embark on a major new project: according to Kuittinnen, Finland’s next big hit will be created at this studio, carrying on Krueger’s legacy and introducing innovative ideas during his tenure.
