Government to Create 40,000 Public Employment Opportunities in Council of Ministers Meeting

The Government is poised to make history with the largest public employment offer in history at the Council of Ministers on Tuesday, as announced by Minister José Luis Escrivá. This offer will consist of more than 40,000 positions, surpassing the previous record set in 2018 by Pedro Sánchez’s Executive, which created over 220,000 civil service positions. The push for public employment has been steadily increasing over the past few years.

The distribution of the offer includes over 20,000 open positions in the General State Administration (AGE) and 10,600 positions for internal promotion. Furthermore, there will be 6,520 open positions and 2,161 for internal promotion in the Armed Forces, State Security Forces, and Corps. In total, the offer will include 40,121 positions.

The Government has made it clear that public employment is a priority. This is evident through the significant increase in civil service positions over the past few years. The current administration is committed to increasing the percentage of public employment in Spain’s labor market to align with OECD standards. Despite criticism from some unions, the Government remains focused on expanding public employment opportunities.

The recent salary increase for civil servants, paired with the upcoming public employment offer, demonstrates the Government’s commitment to its workforce. Negotiations are underway to ensure that public employees receive fair compensation and maintain their purchasing power. The push for public employment and better working conditions for civil servants is a key focus for the current administration.

The ongoing pandemic has had a significant impact on Spain’s economy and job market. However, this new wave of public employment opportunities comes as a ray of hope for many Spaniards looking for work or seeking better working conditions.

The push for public employment has been driven by several factors such as economic uncertainty and social inequality. Many believe that an expansion of public services can help address these issues while also boosting economic growth.

Despite some criticisms from unions regarding pay and working conditions concerns have been addressed through negotiations between government officials and trade union leaders.

In conclusion, this new wave of public employment offers represents a significant step forward towards building a more equitable society while also creating jobs in an uncertain economic climate.
