Kari Lake continues to profit from her MAGA celebrity brand

GOP Senatorial Candidate Kari Lake’s Financial Ties and Out-of-State Concerns

Arizona gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake is on track to become the GOP’s Senate nominee in 2022. To supplement her income, Lake has been earning money through paid appearances and book sales. In June, she received $20,000 for speaking at the St. Joseph County Republican Party’s Lincoln Day Dinner in South Bend, Indiana, as reported in a financial disclosure at the end of the month. This payment is in addition to $75,000 that she earned from paid speeches in the year prior to announcing her campaign.

Lake also has an agreement with right-wing publisher Winning Team Publishing in 2023 that includes a $100,000 advance and 25% of net profits beyond that. Additionally, she had between $1,000 and $15,000 in stock in Trump Media & Technology Group as of her January disclosure. Despite these additional income sources, Lake’s assets remained largely consistent with her January disclosure.

As she prepares for the upcoming Senate race against Democratic Rep. Ruben Gallego in the fall, Lake will need to address concerns about spending a significant amount of time out of state despite not having won an election yet. Some Republicans have raised this issue as they worry about Lake’s ability to represent Arizona effectively if she spends too much time out of state during her campaign.

Lake’s campaign did not respond to a request for comment from Business Insider regarding these concerns or any other issues related to her candidacy for Senate.
