During a health expo hosted by the Good Samaritan Health Clinic in Cullman, Alabama, Meaghanne Thompson shared valuable information about living with diabetes. The event, which took place on June 28, was an opportunity for clinic patients to learn about nutrition, diabetes management, and simple home fitness routines from staff members of the Alabama Cooperative Extension System.
Della Bramley demonstrated proper food portions and meal sizes while guests were able to sample healthy snacks. Shanetria Orr led guests through fun home exercises that were both enjoyable and beneficial for their health. Patients also took home door prizes including resistance band sets for exercise and bags of fresh produce grown by Master Gardener Brad Mitchell through the Grow More Give More program.
As the clinic nears its 20th anniversary, celebrations are in the works. The community is invited to attend one of the Open House events scheduled for August to learn more about the clinic’s services, impact, and future plans. Jolanda Hutson, Executive Director of the clinic expressed her plans for more events like this in the future to promote wellness and prevention among patients and the community.
Moving forward into 2025, Good Samaritan Health Clinic has big plans for expansion. A new facility will be built on Veterans Drive that will have a larger waiting room to accommodate after-hours patient education classes and events.
