Germany recorded a school dropout rate of over twelve percent in 2022, making it the fourth highest in the European Union. The highest rate was in Romania with 15.6 percent, followed by Spain with 13.9 percent and Hungary with 12.4 percent. Despite a slight improvement from the previous year, Germany’s rate still placed it as the fourth highest in the EU. On a positive note, the EU-wide average school dropout rate improved from 10.5 to 9.6 percent from 2018 to 2022, although Germany was not as good as the average in recent years.
