Georgia Bulldogs land five-star recruit Isaiah Gibson, leading to top-five ranking in 2025 recruiting class

Georgia Lands Top-Ranked Edge Rusher, Moves Up in Recruiting Rankings

In recent news, Georgia landed a major recruit in the form of five-star edge rusher Isaiah Gibson. According to 247Sports, Gibson is ranked as the No. 17 overall prospect in the 2025 recruiting cycle and is considered the top-ranked edge rusher in his class. His commitment helped Georgia move up to the No. 4 spot in the recruiting rankings, just behind Ohio State, Alabama, and Notre Dame.

Gibson had previously committed to USC but backed off that pledge last week. He had an official visit scheduled at Oklahoma over the weekend but ultimately decided to cancel it. Before making his final decision, he also considered Ohio State before choosing Georgia. With Gibson’s commitment, he becomes the 15th member of Georgia’s 2025 recruiting class.

Joining Gibson in this class are other top recruits such as five-star tight end Elyiss Williams, five-star linebacker Zayden Walker, four-star edge Darren Ikinnagbon, and four-star linebacker Jadon Perlotte. Since coach Smart took over in 2015, Georgia has consistently finished in the top-10 in recruiting rankings each year. In 2024, the Bulldogs had a historic recruiting class, landing four five-star defenders. The current 2025 class is on a similar trajectory, aiming to continue Georgia’s success in recruiting top talent.

Coach Smart and his staff were actively involved in recruiting Gibson, showing their commitment to him throughout the process. Gibson mentioned that after he committed, Coach Smart reached out to him immediately along with other members of the coaching staff. With a strong track record of successfully recruiting top talent, Georgia’s future looks bright as they continue to bring in high-caliber players to the program.
