In the Lower Zambezi National Park, a mother goose risked her life to save her chick from an eagle. Kyle Branch, a wildlife expert at Classic Zambia Safaris, witnessed the intense encounter and captured it on camera.
While on a boat tour, Branch saw a fish eagle hovering over the water, preparing to swoop down and catch prey. However, this time the eagle targeted a young Egyptian goose as its next meal. The gosling sensed danger and dove into the water to avoid capture, displaying impressive defensive behavior at a young age.
Despite its efforts, the eagle managed to swiftly catch the gosling with its talons and fly off before reaching the nearest patch of land to dry off. This provided an opportunity for the mother goose to save her chick. Upon reaching the patch of land, the exhausted eagle struggled to catch its breath while holding the trapped gosling.
The mother goose displayed bravery and cunning by challenging the larger bird and preventing it from flying away. In a surprising turn of events,
