From LCD to OLED: Bob O’Brien’s Analytical Journey in the Display and Electronics Industry

Bob O’Brien, the Co-Founder and CFO of DSCC, has decades of experience in the display and electronics industries. He is known for his ability to turn market and business analysis into strategic insights. Bob’s expertise lies in analyzing display materials such as glass and AMOLED materials, as well as covering developments in TV and other large-screen display applications.

During his time at Corning, Bob led the CGT intelligence team in creating tools for analyzing short- and long-term dynamics in the LCD industry. He developed an analytical model for predicting glass demand based on supply/demand dynamics in the LCD value chain, in response to Corning’s vulnerability to market fluctuations. Additionally, Bob conducted consumer survey work to understand the TV replacement cycle and played a key role in exploring and developing the Gorilla glass business in emerging markets as the cover glass market matured.

Later on at LG.Philips and Philips, Bob led a team that evaluated six different display technologies for the large-screen TV market. His expertise and leadership were instrumental in advancing understanding of the market and technology outlook in the TV industry.
