ECU Health to host flag-raising ceremony honoring organ donors and recipients

From Donor to Gift: ECU Health Hosts Pause to Give Life Event for Organ Donors and Recipients

On Wednesday morning, ECU Health Medical Center will host the “Pause to Give Life Event” to honor organ donors and recipients. Despite 50 percent of adults in North Carolina being registered organ donors, over 100,000 people nationwide are waiting for organ and tissue donations.

As part of the event, ECU Health will raise the Donate Life Flag at 10:08 a.m., followed by a 30-second moment of silence to pay tribute to donors and their families, as well as those patiently waiting for donations and recipients who have already received the gift of life. The specific start time of 10:08 a.m. is symbolic, representing that one donor can potentially save eight lives.

The ceremony will take place at the ECU Health Medical Center flag pole located at 2100 Stantonsburg Road, despite it being a First Alert Weather Day and potential rain conditions. If it rains, the ceremony will be moved to the chapel at the hospital.
