From Buenos Aires to the Battlefield: Tragic Loss of Argentine Hostage in Gaza

On Tuesday, Israel confirmed the death of one of the Argentines who was taken hostage by Hamas. Lior Rudaeff, 61 years old, was murdered on October 7 and his body remains kidnapped in Gaza. The Israeli Embassy confirmed the news, stating that Rudaeff was married with four children. With his death confirmed, there are still eight other Argentines in the hands of the terrorist group.

According to those close to the victim on social media, Rudaeff was an ambulance driver and volunteer doctor. On October 7, when Hamas attacked Israel, he went out to join the battle for the kibbutz. His family was confined to shelters for 48 hours during those days of maximum violence and was eventually rescued. Lior even sent a message to his family saying he was injured and expressing affection to his wife, Yaffa, and his four children. However, they did not hear from him again after that day.

Lior Rudaeff had moved with his family from Buenos Aires to Kibbutz Nir Yitzhak when he was just eight years old. He grew up with a passion for cycling and loved listening to popular Israeli musician Shlomo Artzi’s music. His death has left behind a profound impact on those who knew him and on his family, who will forever miss him dearly.

The news of Rudaeff’s murder has been met with shock and sadness by many people around the world who were touched by his selflessness and dedication towards helping others in need.

The Israeli government has condemned Hamas for their actions and called for their immediate release of all remaining hostages. They also reiterated their commitment to ensuring that justice is served for Rudaeff’s murder.

As we mourn Lior’s tragic loss, we hope that peace will soon be restored in Gaza so that no more innocent lives are lost due to terrorism.
