From Baseball to College Sports: Travis Hawks Appointed General Manager of Learfield’s Coyote Sports Properties

Travis Hawks has been appointed as the general manager of Learfield’s Coyote Sports Properties, the multimedia rights holder and sports marketing arm for the University of South Dakota athletics. With his expertise in business development, strategy, relationship building, and team leadership, Hawks expressed his commitment and excitement in leading the organization and the university’s athletics program to new heights.

Hawks previously served as the Senior Manager of Business Development at Wyoming Sports Properties before joining Learfield in 2017. During his time in Wyoming, he exceeded sales targets by creating and selling innovative sponsorship packages, establishing strong relationships with local, regional, and national partners, and expanding revenue streams. He also developed customized partnerships with businesses to connect their brands with the University of Wyoming’s dedicated fan base.

Hawks’ accomplishments at Learfield include receiving the Learfield Chairman’s Club honor in 2022-23, the Deal of the Year award in 2023, and achieving recognition as a multi-time goal hitter. South Dakota associate athletic director for fan engagement, Jarren Duffy, commended Hawks as a proven leader known for building relationships and implementing creative solutions. Duffy anticipates new and exciting game day activations under Hawks’ leadership at Coyote Sports Properties.

Before his tenure at Learfield, Hawks gained experience in sales roles with the Helena Brewers Professional Baseball team and the Mobile BayBears Professional Baseball team. He demonstrated a track record of driving revenue growth and increasing game day attendance for both organizations.
