HERO Sports: Three Rattlers Stand Out as SWAC’s Top Returners in Their Position

Florida A&M Rattlers Look to Repeat Celebration Bowl Title with Standout Defenders and Offensive Linemen Recognized by HERO Sports

The Florida A&M Rattlers are determined to defend their Celebration Bowl title in the upcoming season. Three standout players, Kendall Bohler, James Ash, and Ashton Grable, have been recognized as the best in their respective positions by HERO Sports.

Bohler was named HERO Sports’ best FCS returning cornerback and ranked seventh nationally, as well as first in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC). In 2023, he recorded 39 tackles, 14 pass breakups, and an interception. Bohler received several accolades for his outstanding performance on the field, including All-SWAC First Team recognition, BOXTOROW All-American honors, a spot on the Aeneas Williams Award Finalist list, membership on Bruce Feldman’s Freak List, and inclusion on the Reese’s Senior Bowl Watch List.

James Ash was recognized as HERO Sports’ best returning defensive tackle and ranked 19th nationally while being first in the SWAC. In 2023, he tallied 32 tackles, six tackles for loss, and an interception. Ash was also honored with a spot on Phil Steele’s All-SWAC Fourth Team.

Ashton Grable was named HERO Sports’ best returning SWAC interior offensive lineman. He showcased his versatility by starting all 11 games in multiple positions such as left tackle and right guard. Grable allowed only two sacks on 370 pass-blocking attempts while delivering strong performances with 22 ‘dominator blocks’, 11 knockdown blocks and two cut blocks. He earned a PFF grade of 70.1 in pass protection with three games graded over 85.0%. Grable was a crucial asset to Florida A&M’s offensive line in the previous season and was named to the All-SWAC Second Team.
