Fire Guts Butler County Health Department Building; Authorities Search for Cause

On Sunday morning, a fire broke out at the building that housed the Butler County Health Department and EMA office in Greenville. The building was located on Airport Road and fire crews arrived at the scene around 3:30 a.m. Despite their efforts to put out the fire, it was ultimately declared a total loss. Fortunately, no one was inside the building during the fire and there were no reported injuries.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated but authorities have ruled out arson as a possible cause. In the meantime, residents are encouraged to reach out to the Crenshaw County Health Department or other nearby locations for health services. The Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH) is working on identifying a temporary location to continue providing health services to those in Butler County.
