Unlocking the Mystery of the Happiest Country on Earth

Finland: The Happy Nation – Continuing to Top the World Happiness Report for 7 Years

Finland has been named the world’s happiest country for the seventh consecutive year by the World Happiness Report. This report, initiated in 2012 by the United Nations (UN) to promote sustainable development goals, saw Finland score highest with a rating of 7.7 out of 10, while Afghanistan was at the bottom with a score of just 1.7.

The Scandinavian countries have long dominated the top rankings in this report, and Finland’s success can be attributed to several factors that contribute to its overall well-being. These include gender equality, trust in national institutions and citizens, low levels of corruption, free education, universal healthcare, family-friendly policies and saunas culture which is considered as a key factor in Finnish happiness.

Finland was the first country to grant women the right to vote and run in parliamentary elections in 1906, and this gender equality continues to be a defining characteristic of Finnish society today. Trust in national institutions and citizens is also high in Finland, with Transparency International ranking it as one of the least corrupt countries in the world after Denmark.

The abundance of saunas is also considered a crucial element in Finnish happiness. With over 3.5 million saunas for a population of just 5.5 million, saunas are an integral part of Finnish culture. The Finnish embassy in Berlin recently hosted an exhibition celebrating sauna culture which was a popular event that got fully booked tickets.

Overall, Finland’s success as a happy nation can be attributed to its commitment to promoting gender equality and building trust among its citizens while providing access to free education and universal healthcare along with family-friendly policies that all contribute to their overall well-being.

In conclusion, Finland remains at the top spot on the World Happiness Report for seven years running due to its stable government institutions
