CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Spring has sprung at the University of Illinois and Fighting Illini Athletics is inviting fans to celebrate this week at Spring Sports Fest.

Kicking off Thursday evening with the Orange and Blue Spring Game at Memorial Stadium, Spring Sports Fest will function seven Fighting Illini applications hosting 13 events more than 4 days.

All events are no cost and open the public, with quite a few fantastic promotions on tap such as senior day celebrations, giveaways, reside music, and concessions specials.

Fighting Illini Sport Reunions Scheduled for Spring Sports Festival Weekend

Varsity I is also hosting two big reunions this week in conjunction with the Spring Sports Festival.   

FOOTBALL
The Fighting Illini Football Reunion begins Thursday evening prior to the Spring Football Game and incorporates quite a few activities via Saturday. A highlight of the reunion weekend is the 2nd Annual Alumni Expertise Competitors which incorporates longest throw, throwing accuracy, punting, snap accuracy, field target kicking, vertical jump and the 225-pound bench rep.

Notable football alums anticipated to participate contain Pierre Thomas, Kam Buckner, Terry Hawthorne, Isiah “Juice” Williams, Matt Sinclair, Justin Harrison, Justin Staples, Ty Washington, Cam Pepper, Jon Kerr and Derek Walker.

The weekend starts with an alumni meet and greet Thursday at six pm at F.I.C.E. in the north finish of Memorial Stadium, following by the Spring Game at 7:30 pm. The group gathers once more Friday evening for a Varsity I “Welcome Back” at the Smith Center. Saturday activities contain a group breakfast, watching the final spring football practice and the alumni capabilities competitors.

TRACK &amp FIELD / CROSS Nation
Additional than 40 former Fighting Illini men’s and women’s Track &amp Field and Cross Nation competitors have registered for their reunion weekend. The festivities begin Friday at Noon with the Gary Wieneke Memorial Meet at Demirjian Park exactly where the returning alums will be treated to a hospitality suite and reserved seating. Friday evening, the reunion moves to Pour Brothers, in Downtown Champaign, for the  Track &amp Field Alumni Meet &amp Greet beginning at six:30 pm.

On Saturday, the returning alums will be treated to a tour of Demirjian Park and the second day of the Wieneke Memorial Meet that starts at Noon. The group will collect once more Saturday evening at six:30 pm in the Colonnades Club at Memorial Stadium for a Varsity I “Welcome Back” system that will contain initially-year track and field head coach Petros Kyprianou.
