It will have to be spring, due to the fact one particular rite of passage for this time of year has come to fruition.

Fairport’s revered Greig Field was when once again honored by Pioneer Sports in its “Fields of Excellence” plan for 2022.

“Pioneer understands that excellence in athletic field upkeep goes unrecognized and, typically, unappreciated,” the athletic field marking paint and gear manufacturer noted in a ready statement. “The Fields of Excellence award plan honors outstanding athletic fields and the hardworking field crews who diligently keep them.”

Established in 1997, the plan has honored 1,464 athletic fields across the nation considering the fact that its inception.

Greig Field was amongst 101 fields nationally that have been recognized for 2022 by way of a “rigorous judging procedure.”

Fairport will acquire a recognition certificate and a banner for Greig Field.

The Skippers are no stranger to getting these plaudits.
