The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio and Texas Public Radio are collaborating on a live program focused on addiction. The event, titled “Think Science,” will explore the latest information on addiction to alcohol and drugs, a serious disorder that affects a significant portion of adults in the country. In fact, the City of San Antonio recognized drug overdoses as a public health crisis in June.
Nathan Cone from Texas Public Radio will serve as the moderator for the hour-long event, which will take place on Monday, July 15, at 7 p.m., at the UT Health San Antonio Joe R. and Teresa Lozano Long Campus. The location will be the Pestana Lecture Hall, with doors opening at 6:30 p.m.
Experts from UT Health Science Center San Antonio and its Be Well Institute on Substance Use and Related Disorders will lead the discussion. This initiative is dedicated to advancing research, education, and evidence-based treatments for addiction. Jennifer Sharpe Potter, PhD, MPH, the vice president for research at UT Health Science Center San Antonio and founding director of the Be Well Institute, will be among those leading the discussion.
