Elmont School District Hosts Science Research Symposium, Showcases Student Discoveries at NYSSEF Competition.

Gotham Avenue School recently hosted Elmont school district’s annual Science Research Symposium. The event, which welcomed community members, families and administrative team members, provided a platform for students to showcase their research projects. Six buildings in the district participated, with students presenting their work that they had been working on twice a week throughout the school year in preparation for the New York State Science and Engineering Fair (NYSSEF) Science Research Competition.

The Science Research Symposium allowed students to share their findings and hard work with others in the community. It was an excellent opportunity for students to engage with peers, families and other community members who were interested in their research. Elmont’s science research advisors played a crucial role in guiding and supporting the students throughout the process.

On June 3, Elmont’s sixth graders competed in the Thermo-Fischer Division at the NYSSEF Science Research Competition held at Jamaica Avenue School in Plainview. During the competition, they presented their research projects to judges from different schools across Nassau County. It was a challenging yet rewarding experience for them, who demonstrated their confidence and dedication to their research projects.
