Electric Vehicle Dominance: Hyundai Group Takes Home Multiple World Car Awards in 2024

Hyundai Group continues to dominate prestigious vehicle awards, particularly in the electric vehicle category. In 2024, Kia made a comeback with the EV9 winning the World Car of the Year and World Electric Vehicle awards. Meanwhile, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N secured the World Performance Car title.

Judged by a panel of one hundred automotive journalists from 29 countries, vehicles competing for the main prize must have production exceeding 10,000 units annually, be available in at least two major global markets, and be priced below luxury options in their regions. The EV9 beat out competitors like BYD Seal and Volvo EX30 for the top title.

In addition to the EV9’s victory in the electric vehicle category, other winners included BMW i5 for World Luxury Car and Volvo EX30 for World Urban Car. For performance cars, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N emerged victorious among 16 other competitors, beating out contenders like M2 and XM. The Toyota Prius was a surprising inclusion and won the 2024 World Car Design of the Year award.
