Assistance from the Delaware Tourism Office for New and Existing Sports Facilities in Bringing Events to the State

Delaware Sports Tourism Capital Investment Fund Launched to Boost Facilities and Attract More Visitors

The Delaware Tourism Office has recently launched the Delaware Sports Tourism Capital Investment Fund to support sports facilities in the First State. This fund was established through the FY24 Bond Bill and is designed to provide financial assistance to new or existing sports facilities that host events, tournaments, and championships throughout the year, attracting out-of-state visitors and creating an economic impact at the state and local level.

Delaware has recently hosted several major events, including the Atlantic 10 Women’s Basketball Tournament, the PGA’s 2022 BMW Championship, and the MEAC Volleyball Championship, along with regional high school and youth sports events. To continue to remain competitive in sports tourism, the Delaware Tourism Office is seeking applications for funding from a range of different facilities, including smaller venues holding high school lacrosse tournaments to larger facilities hosting bigger events.

The fund is expected to attract more visitors to the state and continue to highlight reasons to visit Delaware. To provide information about the fund, the Delaware Tourism Office will be hosting two informative webinars for potential applicants later this month. These webinars will cover everything from eligibility criteria to application procedures and will provide applicants with all the information they need to apply for funding successfully.
