Data Breach at Southern Nevada Health District Exposes Sensitive Information of 300 Clients

A recent data breach has occurred on the website of Southern Nevada Health District, resulting in the exposure of sensitive information belonging to approximately 300 clients who completed transactions using the Environmental Health Invoice Payment form between March 4 and March 14. Officials discovered a malicious code on the page that redirected clients to a fraudulent payment form that appeared to be a credit card payment page not affiliated with the district. The code was removed on March 14, and law enforcement was notified of the incident.

The Southern Nevada Health District is taking immediate action to address this breach by hiring cybersecurity experts to secure their site and investigate the incident further. They are working closely with law enforcement to prevent future incidents and protect the security of their clients and patients. Those impacted by the breach will receive a letter from SNHD and will be offered assistance with potential identity theft and resolution services. As of now, there have been no reports of credit misuse resulting from this incident.

The Health District is committed to taking every necessary step to ensure that their clients’ information remains safe and secure. They are continuing to work with authorities and security advisors to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.
