This holiday season, big box stores will offer Friday shopping deals, while Saturday will focus on small businesses with a larger impact on local economies. In the Copper Country, the Keweenaw Chamber of Commerce is proud to work with small business owners to make Small Business Saturday a success.
To kick off Small Business Saturday, the chamber has partnered with over 70 local businesses to create a coupon booklet with deals ranging from clothing shops to restaurants. This booklet is a convenient way for community members to support local businesses during the holiday season. The event will take place on Saturday, November 25th, and those interested in supporting the local economy can pick up a coupon booklet from the chamber’s office in Houghton and find more details on their website, keweenaw.org.
The welcome station where coupon booklets will be available will feature a table with snacks and drinks from 9 am until 11 am. Community members can come and pick up their coupon booklets and learn more about the small businesses participating in this event. The goal of Small Business Saturday is to encourage people to shop at locally owned businesses instead of big box stores that dominate much of the marketplace. By supporting these small businesses, community members can help keep money circulating within their own community and contribute to its growth and prosperity.
