“Annual Grants Program Expands Opportunities in Indy’s Creative Economy” – Indianapolis News | Indiana Weather | Indiana Traffic

City Grants Boost Indianapolis’ Creative Economy with Record Investment for 2024

In 2016, the Indianapolis city government introduced its “equity priorities” and since then, its annual grants program has expanded access to funding for the local creative economy. This year, nearly $1.5 million was awarded to 91 nonprofit arts and culture organizations, marking a record for 2024’s investment. The annual grants program has been a core component of the city’s support for arts and culture since 1987.

Organizations that received this funding were evaluated based on their community impact, artistic alignment, and organizational capacity. One such organization that benefited from this program is El Sistema Indianapolis. The significance of the initiative was further discussed by WISH-TV contributor Gloria Jimenez on News 8 on Monday. She emphasized that the expansion of the annual grants program underscores the importance of fostering a vibrant creative sector and supporting local cultural initiatives.
