Cheltenham acquires goalkeepers Evans and Day

Cheltenham Town Faces New Challenges in League Two with Signings of Evans and Day

Cheltenham Town is set to face the challenges of the upcoming season in League Two with the addition of goalkeepers Owen Evans and Joe Day. Evans, 27, has returned to the club after being released by Walsall following a two-season stint. He previously spent time on loan with Cheltenham in 2020, making 45 appearances before moving to the Saddlers. Meanwhile, Day, 33, has joined the team from Newport as a player-coach, following the departure of goalkeeping coach James Bittner to Barnsley.

During his time at Newport, Day worked with now-Cheltenham manager Michael Flynn. Flynn expressed his excitement about Day’s addition to the team, stating that he knows him well and believes he is a fantastic goalkeeper with a good temperament. As a player-coach, Day will be taking on an important role in helping Cheltenham Town prepare for life in League Two.

With Evans and Day now on board, Cheltenham Town is gearing up for the challenges that lie ahead in the upcoming season. Flynn is confident that their presence will be a valuable asset to the club as they strive to succeed in their new league division.
