Chatham Middle School Science & Technology Fair Showcases Student Innovation and Inquiry

Chatham Middle School recently hosted its 2024 Science & Technology Fair, with entries from students in grades six through eight. Winners were chosen from each grade level.

In the sixth grade, Miles Schuster studied the impact of outside temperature on the efficiency of solar panels. In the seventh grade, Jack Galvin investigated which fruit or vegetable contained the most energy. The eighth-grade team of Lucy Tassinari and Logan Van Wie examined the effectiveness of various heat protectants.

Students participating in the fair developed a hypothesis or technical problem and used either the Scientific Method or Problem Solving Method to test their theories or find solutions. The judging was done by Chatham’s high school and middle school science and technology faculty during the school day, with classes visiting to view the projects. The fair was open to the public in the evening, where the winners were announced at the end of the event.

The winners of this year’s Science & Technology Fair were Miles Schuster for sixth grade, Jack Galvin for seventh grade and Lucy Tassinari and Logan Van Wie for eighth grade. Congratulations to all those who participated and showcased their scientific and technological skills!
