FPP technology enhances the durability of composite tanks in industrial settings

Cevotec Unveils Next-Gen Samba Pro Layup Systems at JEC Europe 2019, Achieving 15% Weight Reduction in Industrial Composite Tank Reinforcement

Cevotec GmbH, a leading innovator in fiber patch placement (FPP) technology, is showcasing its next generation of Samba Pro layup systems at the upcoming JEC Europe 2019 trade show in Paris. The company’s flagship product, the Samba Pro PV-1 system, is designed specifically for industrial reinforcement of composite tanks and has already been successfully validated through collaboration with Roth Composite Machinery, Cikoni, and an undisclosed tank manufacturer.

Cevotec’s Samba Pro PV-1 system utilizes optimized filament winding and dome reinforcements to save 15% of fiber material and related costs while maintaining equivalent mechanical properties. This cost savings makes it ideal for pressure vessel OEMs looking to reduce their bottom line without compromising the performance of their composite tanks. The fully automated process allows dome reinforcements to be applied on an industrial scale with optimal layup quality.

In addition to composite tank reinforcement, Cevotec also offers FPP layup features for high-performance composite aerostructures such as multi-material components. Custom functionalities such as post-placement push, push and hold, and accentuated 3D placement are introduced to enable precise placement of difficult-to-handle materials on complex shapes. FPP is ideal for cases where AFP layup systems face challenges in terms of geometric complexity, material handling, or laminate requirements.

Visitors to JEC Europe can learn more about Cevotec’s innovative products by visiting their booth in Hall 6A stand N82. Dr. Dimitrios Sikoutris, a technical expert at Cevotec will present the project results, technical background, and industrial application in the conference presentation titled “Composite tanks innovation: 15% weight reduction by using dome reinforcements in an industrial process” on Wednesday, September 11th from 1:30 – 2:25 p.m. Visitors can also schedule meetings for a live estimation of the cost savings potential for their specific vessels with the Cevotec team who will be present at the booth throughout the event alongside their partner American GFM.
