TikTok users search for alternative to Ozempic and try drinking rice water with lime

Busting the Myth: Is Rice-Zempic a Safe and Effective Alternative to Ozempic for Weight Loss?

Tiktok has become a popular platform for discussing weight loss trends, and one of the latest buzzwords is rice water and lime. Some users claim that this cheaper alternative to Ozempic can help with weight loss. However, nutritionists warn against it as a healthy approach to weight loss.

One Tiktok user, Alfredo Valenzuela, tried the Rice-Zempic trend and lost 2.5 kilos in 12 days. While he initially saw results, he eventually decided to stop after realizing that it was not a sustainable method for long-term weight loss. Nutrition experts advise against following these types of trends and emphasize the importance of drinking water in a regular and healthy way.

Maartje Boot from the Dutch Nutrition Center explains that rice water does not have any specific properties that aid in weight loss, unlike medications like Ozempic which have hormonal effects. While consuming rice water instead of a meal may result in fewer calorie intake and some weight loss, it is not a medically supported method for sustainable weight management. Experts urge people to follow evidence-based approaches to weight management rather than relying on unproven methods like Rice-Zempic.
