Women have surpassed men in becoming CEOs of listed companies

Breaking the Glass Ceiling: Progress and Challenges in Achieving Greater Gender Diversity Among CEOs in Helsinki

In recent years, there has been a significant increase in gender diversity among CEOs of listed companies in Helsinki. According to recent calculations by responsibility consultant Kaisa Hernberg, there are now more women CEOs than Juha CEOs. There are currently ten women as managing directors of listed companies, compared to only five Juhas. Additionally, there are five Mikkos, three Artoja, Esoja, and Mikoja each as managing directors.

Despite this progress, Hernberg believes that there is still room for improvement in achieving greater gender diversity among CEOs. The Union of Women’s Affairs calculated in 2015 that more listed companies were led by men named Juha rather than women. However, the number of female CEOs in listed companies seems to have decreased since then, according to the Central Chamber of Commerce’s annual review of female managers.

Data collected by the Chamber of Commerce shows that the number of female CEOs rose from one to around ten in the mid-2010s, where it has remained for the past few years.
