On May 8, four workers from Cho Lon Electricity Company sustained severe burns while repairing electricity at an underground cable line in District 8. The incident resulted in a fire and explosion that caused the workers to suffer injuries. They were rushed to Cho Ray Hospital where doctors attempted to treat their injuries.
Dr. Ngo Duc Hiep, the Head of the Department of Plastic Surgery at Cho Ray Hospital, provided details about the most severely injured patient, a 28-year-old male with 2nd and 3rd degree burns covering 80% of his body. The patient received treatment for pain relief, intravenous fluids, tetanus prevention, blood tests, and CT scans of the head, chest, and abdomen before being transferred to the Department of Plastic Surgery for further treatment. His prognosis remains difficult due to the extent of his injuries.
The other three patients included a 46-year-old man with burns on his head and face, a 37-year-old male with burns on his ear and hands, and another 37-year-old with burns on his hand and ankle. They were treated for pain relief and tetanus prevention before being discharged from the hospital.
