Breaking News: Fire Shuts Down Downtown South Park, Reports West Seattle Blog.
At 9:45 PM, the Seattle Fire Department declared the fire in the business building on the northeast corner of the intersection to be “tapped” and some of the units were being dismissed. By that time, Southbound traffic on the bridge had been held behind a bus for over an hour, as cars turned around and headed back northbound.
Earlier at 9:10 PM, there had been a big fire response in downtown South Park. The main intersection in downtown was closed off, as well as the northbound side of the South Park Bridge. Smoke from the fire was visible on traffic cameras pointing toward the bridge’s south end.
By 9:22 PM, it was reported that the Seattle Fire Department was still fighting
