Biden’s Ceasefire Call: Protecting Civilians in Gaza Strip Amid Concerns over Rafah

US President Joe Biden has announced plans to negotiate a ceasefire lasting at least six weeks in the Gaza Strip, with the aim of releasing hostages. During a joint press conference with the King of Jordan at the White House, it was discussed that civilians in the town of Rafah, located near the Egyptian border, need to be protected.

Biden emphasized the importance of protecting civilians in Rafah, stating that Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu had ordered his country’s armed forces to prepare for a ground attack on the town. This move raised concerns for the up to one million Palestinians living in the region.
