BayCare Announces Plans for First Hospital in Manatee County

BayCare Health System to Build New $548 Million Hospital in Manatee County: Focusing on Patient Needs Rather than Profit Margins

BayCare Health System recently announced plans for the construction of a new $548 million hospital in Manatee County. This 154-bed facility will be located on Moccasin Wallow Road, providing easy access to residents in southern Pinellas County. The hospital, named BayCare Hospital Manatee, will offer a wide range of services including emergency care, orthopedic and specialty surgery, urology, gastroenterology, cardiology, obstetrics, and neonatology.

The hospital will also house a 45,000-square-foot building for outpatient services and physician offices. Construction is set to begin in October with the goal of providing high-quality and compassionate care to the community. BayCare Hospital Manatee will be the nonprofit’s 17th hospital, marking its commitment to meeting the healthcare needs of growing communities in West Central Florida.

BayCare’s expansion into Manatee County reflects its dedication to serving the evolving healthcare needs of the Tampa Bay region. With the opening of this new hospital, residents can expect access to advanced medical services and a commitment to community health. BayCare’s ongoing investment in healthcare infrastructure underscores its mission to provide exceptional care to residents in the growing Tampa Bay area.

This new hospital will be the first in Manatee County to be built north of the Manatee River, marking a significant milestone for the area. While other hospitals in the county are owned by for-profit organizations such as Universal Health Services and HCA Health Care, BayCare Hospital Manatee will be the first nonprofit-owned hospital in the area. This sets BayCare apart from other healthcare providers in West Central Florida as it focuses on providing quality care that prioritizes patient needs over profit margins.
