Achieving Success Through Persistence and Philanthropy: A Fireside Conversation with John W. Rogers Jr.

John W. Rogers Jr., a prominent entrepreneur from Chicago, is set to visit the Paul Simon Institute at SIU on April 11, 2024. During his “fireside conversation” with John Shaw, director of the institute, Rogers will share insights about his career in business, public service, and philanthropy. The event will take place in the SIU School of Law Auditorium, Room 120, with a reception preceding it from 4 to 5 p.m. in the law school’s formal lounge.

Rogers is the founder and co-CEO of Ariel Investments, one of the first Black-owned asset management firms in the US managing nearly $15 billion in assets. Throughout his career, he has emphasized key concepts such as active patience, independent thinking, focused expertise, and bold teamwork that have driven Ariel Investments’ success. Attendees are encouraged to submit questions for Rogers in advance through the registration form or email.

Rogers is a respected figure in Illinois and American business communities due to his commitment to business success and community service. As an entrepreneur from Hyde Park and a graduate of Princeton University, Rogers founded Ariel Investments in 1983 early on showcasing his entrepreneurial spirit.
